Materials Checklist
Before you even step foot into the Distortion World, get the following ready:
This is because you will need all of this to craft (except the empty map, furnace, furnace fuel, paper, and ancient poke balls) the Giratina Radar. The empty map goes with the Giratina Radar in the regional cartography table to locate Giratina's Island. This is important to not get stuck in the Distortion World. Also, having a flying pokemon or a Waystone will help tremendously here. The final 2 ingredients are Origin Ingots, the ore for which can only be found in the Distortion World, so come prepared.
Materials Checklist
To find Turnback Cave, you can look underground in Arid Highlands. The most reliable method however, is to craft the Old Journal and put that in a regional cartography table with an empty map.
Here is what Turnback Cave looks like via the minimap. Images 2 and 3 show some examples of some of the rooms. Pokemon trial spawners are located in various room so be careful.
Try to locate the room with the portal in it. It's the room with the purple dot, or the weird looking hat on the minimap as shown in the second image.
When you first go into the portal, you will be falling. You won't take any fall damage and if you reach the void you'll be teleported back up to the top, so there's nothing to worry about. Here are some cool shots of the world.
Now that we're look, for the Distortion Origin Ore. It will look like this the reddish-orange ore.
Using the furnace and smelting the ore, you will get Origin Ingots. Make sure to smelt an extra origin ingot for the Azure Flute to spawn Arceus Now you can craft the Giratina Radar.
Now you will need to craft the Distortion Cartography Table, which can be done with the distortion logs found around the distortion world. Use an empty map with the Radar in the Distortion Cartography Table to find Giratina's Island.
Giratina's Island may be difficult to spot from a distance, but it'll be obvious when you get closer. Use the Red Chain to spawn Giratina. This will destroy the glass dome.
To leave, the return portal should be nearby Giratina's island. In the first image you can see Giratina's Island on the right and the portal on the left.
